Average Cost Of Fitted Bedroom Furniture
Your bedroom should be a space for relaxation, unwinding after a long day, or easing into a lazy Sunday morning.
Elegant fitted wardrobes can be just the thing to keep it smart and uncluttered, as they usually offer lots more storage space than you'll get with free-standing furniture.
The range of styles – plus the potential to come up with your own bespoke option – can mean that buying made-to-measure bedroom furniture is a big and pricey project.
But there are also simpler, ready-made storage options if you want to refresh your bedroom on a smaller budget.
Use our expert guides to take you from initial ideas and inspiration right through to finding the right company or trader to fit your bedroom furniture.
Built-in wardrobe ideas
The first step is to look for inspiration for how you want your new bedroom to look and feel.
Do you want a fully built-in, bespoke-designed system that incorporates your bed frame and dressing table, as well as wardrobes? Or are you looking for something simpler you can choose from a pre-built range?
Fitted wardrobes can be great for creating reams of handy storage space in children's bedrooms , or making a feature out of corner wardrobes in a guest bedroom.
You'll need to consider the style of the furniture, the type of fitted wardrobe doors you want, the space your wardrobes will fit into and how you want to use the storage space, as these will all have an impact on what you choose.
See design options, styles and ranges from big brands including Ikea, John Lewis, Hammonds and Sharps on our built-in wardrobe ideas page . The gallery below shows a few options to get you started (all images from Hammonds):

Best fitted wardrobe brands
Brands including Hammonds, John Lewis, Sharps and Sliderobes sell built-in bedroom furniture with lots of customisable options. They also offer planning and design services to help you create your fitted bedroom furniture. This comes at a cost, however.
Other brands, including Argos, B&Q and Homebase, offer a range of fitted storage cupboard options which you can combine together to create storage to fit your space. Some don't offer an installation service so you'll need to build DIY fitted furniture yourself, or hire someone to install it for you.

Installing fitted wardrobes
Many fitted bedroom furniture companies offer a design service. This normally involves a bedroom designer coming to your home to show you samples, measure your space and discuss options with you. They should be able to help you come up with a design that will make the most of your room and stick to your budget.
Some companies are offering virtual design appointments at the moment so you can start to design your fitted furniture without leaving your home.
They'll usually then draw up the design for you so that you can visualise it. For most, including Hammonds , John Lewis and Sliderobes , this will be in the form of a 3D drawing. At Sharps , the drawing is done by hand, but you'll get a 3D visualisation once you've agreed to buy the furniture.
Not all offer as full a service though. Ikea , for example, only has in-store design appointments rather than home visits. It does have an online bedroom planning tool you can use though.
Once you're happy with the fitted bedroom furniture design and layout, the company you choose will confirm a delivery and installation date (if relevant). Check each brand's page within our fitted bedroom furniture reviews to find out more about delivery and installation options.
Some companies we reviewed insist on you using their own installation service. This is the same for most independents. But with others you'll need to find an installer or assemble and fit them yourself.
